Mobile phones

I've decided to make mobile phones complimentary to guests who rent my apartment or use a more than a trivial amount of my support services.

Today we got two cell phones to be available to our guests and clients. More phones will be procured if this service turns out to be popular.

These are simple to use Siemens M50 phones that is our "company standard". It will be easy therefore for us to help you with any questions on what buttons to push to make them work.

The phones have a list of important and emergency numbers alredy punched in:

  • Police and Ambulance - English speaking operators

  • Pasha

  • Olesya (train and train tickets, Trans-Siberian, Moscow orientation tours, souvenir shopping, "Russian brides" etc. - see www.russiangirlfriday.com for details.)

  • The housekeeper

  • Slava and Vladimir, our tested and reliable English-speaking drivers (see www.moscowdirvers.net)

  • American Embassy (or we'll add the number of your embassy)

  • American Medical Center and the European Medical Center

  • Pizza Delivery

So, if you are in trouble, help is just a couple of buttons away.

The cost of local (within Moscow) calls is around 10 cents/min. while incoming long-distance calls are up to 40 cents and outgoing long-distance calls are up to 60 cents/min. within Russia and up to $3/min. internationally.  SMS messages are 6-8 cents each. Confine your calls to within Moscow and ask your friends and colleagues at home to keep their calls brief.

The phones can be connected to your laptop computer to give you mobile Internet access. Ask for details if you really need it.

This fellow is camping out in the Tver boonies. Thanks to GPRS technology his bosses at the other end of the world think he is in his office. Want us to set something up for you?

These phones are intended as a courtesy to our clients with whom we work on important projects.  Or our "small errand" fee of $25 may or may not be added to your bill to partly cover the running around associated with the phones (procurement, monitoring the account, paying the bills, monthly fee, repairs...).

Ordinary mortals may rents them at about $5/day + $25 for pickup and delivery if necessary. No deposit or other hassles for "respectable" people.

Yes, you will know your phone number and be able to give it to friends and colleagues before you are on your way to Russia.

Yes, we can send you your cell phone (or just the card, if you already have a GMS standard phone) by mail. The cost of this service $25-50 including the cost of shipment. This way you are in touch from the moment the plane lands. Better value than VIP meeting right at the airplane.

Anything else we can do to help you stay connected? Just let me know.

Pasha
