Oh no,
Russian Mail-Order brides Scene!
Sorry, the damn rural project we got ourselves into (see www.russian-horse-rides.com - and that the nice positive public front, not the can of worms inside) leaves me with no choice but to be somewhat undiscriminating about sources of income. Yes, we work with Russian bride travellers. No, we don't offer catalogues of faces, pretty or made so by good photographers. Our role is different. We can be your advisors and your eyes and ears. We can help you to come here with realistic expectations. We'll assist in making your trip go smoothly. Concerned about being scammed? We've seen a lot of it and can usually spot a scammer and place "her" in a difficult situation from which she'll prefer to retreat. A call to the effect that we have a present but it needs to be delivered in person often does the trick and the scammer vanishes. Legitimate ones of course don't. Pretty pictures you see in catalogues are largely contrived. Go to the women's side of these Russian Brides sites and read detailed instruction on how to adjust their appearance to your tastes, and understand that 2/3 of what you are seeing is the photographer's art.
Interviews. These are usually disguised as present deliveries. This exercise will often result in a revealing report about her character, interests, motives, and aspirations. Don't want to deal with an agency? Sense that it is not right for women to list themselves in catalogues? An entirely valid sentiment. Women who advertise themselves on sites that cater to Western men get dozens if not hundreds of responses and quickly learn to be rather discriminating. What's worse, users of dating services (and that applies to both sides) learn that there is always someone better thus getting into an endless search. A better approach may be to place your own personal ad. It can be in a local paper in a small town very rarely if ever visited by foreigners. This way you are likely to get replies from women who have not thought of a foreign husband before seeing your ad. Or we can develop and place your profile on self-serve dating site that caters to professional women in Moscow, St. Petersburg and a few other major cities. On these sites women look for a relationship, not an exit visa. Technical services: translating correspondence on the fly, gift delivery, money transfers face-to-face, assistance with paperwork should you decide to register your marriage here etc. etc.
