Uncle Pasha's Pick for apartments -
March 10, 2007
When in St. Petersburg I stay at one
of the two apartments owned and operated by
Marina & Andrea. Unbeatable locations:
one on Millionnaya near The Hermitage and the other just off Nevsky close
to the former Royal Stables. The one near The Hermitage has a separate
entrance and, if not for "Evroremont" and a high-tech shower with
a built-in sound system, this vault-like flat would be a powerful
piece of Dostoyevskian St. Petersburg. The one near the stables is a
functional well-lit hotel-like place. The price range is from 40 to
80Euro. Marina & Andrea need to be especially commended on their
near-instant response to
e-mail
enquiries.
See my almost totally
impartial* report on
"The Stables"
~ Millionnaya
Their site:
http://www.saintpetersburg.org
_____ *The only benefit I get from some hosts is a small input into site
maintenance. Enough to cover an occasional beer I may consume in the
process of working on my pages but far from what it would take to
make me do "advertising". I also stay at these places for free when
they are vacant in exchange for same in
Moscow
or Staritsa. Thus
my desire to sell to you is quite week. All purported facts are to
teh best of my knowledge true. In most cases I endeavour to convey
how accommodation offers look to you, not how I or the host wants
you to see then. While it is hard to quantify certain things I'd say
trust 90% of my assertions. .

Uncle Pasha's Pick for Room/Homestay
type accommodation -
December 24, 2007
Homestay/B&Bfast from
Masha &
Tamara Petrovna of Vasilyevsky Island is another favourite of
mine. Two rooms in an spacious "art deco" (is it the right
term?) apartment. Some of my guests called the style "French
brothel". From $30 per person, $50/couple, able to accommodate up to
5. Masha is one of the hosts who
respond
e-mails promptly and usually have a positive answer to just
about any enquiry.

Masha herself lives in
that apartment. NO MOTHERS!

NOT CHECKED OVER 2 YEARS
From my mailbox -
Dear friends,
My name is
Tatiana, I live in St. Petersburg and work as a local guide for
more than 4 years, saving money of my clients and showing them more
real country than the one you can see from the tourist bus window. I
can help with planning and realization of your trip as an
experienced advisor and all-around assistant. I offer to my
guests both the essentials like the visa support, inexpensive
accommodation (B&B at my own apartment and other options) and
different sight-seeing programs. More than half of my site
www.RussianAdventure.com
is a useful information demanded by the independent travelers (check
for example <getting to St.Petersburg> section - by train, bus,
plane or ferry from Moscow, Helsinki, Tallinn or Riga). Write me to
info@RussianAdventure.com and deal directly with the local of your travel destination.
All consulting
is certainly free of charge. - Tatiana
Please note: Tatiana also has a
room for rent in her
apartment. She in St. Petersburg and Olesya
in Moscow (www.russiangirlfriday.com) are good buddies and work together
well. Think of them as a team that can render efficient assistance
in both Moscow and St. Petersburg. I regularly hear good feedback from Tatiana's
clients and guests. No complaints as of the time of this update

Being first time visitors to St.
Petersburg the website information was excellent regarding finding a
location, the photographs being a true
representation of the apartment. We were met by Alexey on arrival,
who was more than helpful in providing information on where to go,
where to eat. Constant contact enabled us to inform him of changes
and delays in our plans. And nothing was too much trouble. An
excellent service and a pleasure to deal with
