THIS IS A GROSSLY OUTDATED PAGE. PRESENTLY I'M NOT IN A GOOD POSITION TO CHECK SCHEDULES AND PRICES, OR TO PROCURE TICKETS. MY EX-PARTNER OLESYA, WHO IS PERMANENTLY STATIONED IN MOSCOW, WILL HELP YOU WITH TRAIN OR AIR TICKES.

Train tickets at local prices
+
a very modest service fee of $25 fee per one or two tickets, $50 in more involved cased but certainly no more than that.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FEE IS FOR PROCURING YOUR TICKETS, NO MORE THAN THAT. DO NOT ASK ME TO VERIFY PRICES AND SCHEDULES, OR TO DEVELOP ITINERARIES FOR YOU. UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT, IF IN DOUBT USE THE SERVICES OF A QUALIFIED TRAVEL AGENT.

Examples of train ticket prices.

Moscow to St. Petersburg: $15-30
(March 2008 - $40-70, which is still great)

Moscow to Tomsk: $70
(Olesya is from Tomsk and I'm still waiting for a promised Tomsk page)

Moscow to Irkutsk: $100

Moscow to Vladivostok, 2nd class:  $130-150

Moscow to Beijing: $200-400

Moscow to Ulan-Bator: $150-250.

I can assist you with procuring ex Moscow tickets when you are here. The fee will be $25 in simple cases but no more that $50 regardless of the number of tickets, within reason. Availability one day in advance is at least 90% so please don't over-plan. Those insisting on tickets before your arrival should be prepared for an extra administrative fee...

AGAIN, I CAN'T OVEREMPHASIZE THAT

IF YOU WANT TO TRAVEL BUDGET

DON'T OVERPLAN
